Shortening a URL

So everyday is a school day and I have just discovered that there is a great way of making a shorter URL when posting a link on a forum post. So instead of posting the full long winded URL first of all go to the link I am posting here and plug in the long URL and see it converted to a nice short URL, which just makes things look a bit neater when creating posts.

Following Categories

On the right hand side of each category it has the option to "Follow" that particular category. If you click the work "Follow" it changes to "Following" and this means you will get an email for each new post that appears in this category.

And actually, now I have tried this myself you not only get an email but the email contains the text of the post, so that is quite a useful feature.

Editing Your Profile

If you go to the "My Account" section of the Members area you can make changes under "Settings" so that you get an email when someone replies to your posts. There are a bunch of other settings you can ignore and we might find a way or hiding those going forward - but we are still learning this new system too.

Example - Posting a Link to an Article

Still learning how all this works myself but if I have got this right you can find and article (say in the Tech Articles section or a Magazine from the archive and simply past the URL link here so that people can find the same link. So when people ask about brakes and offsetts (seem to be the most often asked) we can post a friendly response together with a link to the most helpful article. You can also right click on the "download" button of the article/magazine and the "copy link". Hopefully this link to the adjustment for the gearlinkage will work?
