Intro + Show Us Your Car

Hi guys, I thought I’d put an intro post to share what I’ve been up to since buying my 1978 series one Monte Spyder in October 2023. I bought it as a ‘not quite finished project’ from a chap that has popped it into EBay, and after it caught my eye, I also saw that it was literally only 15 miles away in Masham North Yorkshire, and so I had to go to have a nosey! After I’d had a good look around it, it was clear that the bodywork was very solid, after having a pretty decent restoration and full repaint in 1996, although never really seeing the light of day afterwards! It ran very rough and had the usual several key turns/starter motor clicks before it ran on no more than 3 cylinders. I parted with some hard earned cash, and had her trailered back to Harrogate, where I began making a list of what it needed. It’s now getting somewhere near what I envisioned , but next on the list will be suspension and brake upgrade. I have been working hard to get it in a respectable and reliable condition to make the journey to the 50th Anniversary Bicester Scramble in a few weeks time. A few photos to show it as it is now, but I’ll do a bit of a project thread on how it was and what it’s had done as time goes on! I’ll look forward to seeing you next month and it’ll be great to have so many Montecarlos together to appreciate! 👍
